Four Ways To Keep Phone Cases Clean

If you've gotten an iPhone, you know a case can help protect the phone from damage if you accidentally drop the phone. But those iPhone cases, especially clear or other light-colored ones, can become dirty very easily. Luckily there are some ways to get rid of most, if not all of the dirt so that the case stays in good shape, and there are tactics you can use to keep the case looking good. Here are four things you can do to make the cases stay as clean as possible.

Alcohol Wipes

Those little alcohol pads that nurses use to clean your skin before a shot are among the most underrated cleaning tools available. Try rubbing one of those over the dirt on the case. Many times, that little pad is all you need to keep the case looking consistently good.

Dish Soap and Water

If the alcohol doesn't work, mix up a solution of mild dish soap and water. With a clean cloth or tissue that's been dipped in the solution, gently rub at the dirt on the phone. Repeat this until the case is clean, and then wipe away the soap residue with a clean, wet tissue. Dry off the case and then let it sit for a while to fully air dry before putting the phone back in.

Wash Hands

The oils on your hands, especially your fingertips, can gum up your case. The oils don't wipe away easily, and if they get a chance to dry on your phone case, you could have too much smearing and dirt on there. Periodically wash your hands with soap and water; also wash them after eating or handling anything that could leave even a temporary mark on a phone.

Clean Regularly

It seems so simple, but many people don't do this: Clean the case regularly. You'll have better luck removing dirt if you are removing new dirt that hasn't had a chance to settle into the case yet. If you go weeks or months without cleaning the case, don't be surprised if the dirt you see is difficult to remove.

Yellowed or Dingy Cases

Be aware that as cases age, they can become yellowed or appear dingy even when clean. This is not because of any dirt but because the material simply doesn't age that well. In this case, you'll have to replace the case if you want one that isn't yellowed.
